You take the course online and also complete it with an online theory exam. Because you are allowed to fly heavier drones in built-up areas after completing this course, you are also required to take an additional online exam. With the obtained certificate, you can apply for the (European recognised) drone licence and are allowed to fly all types of drones. Moving on to an Advanced course is possible after this.
